Indonesian Ladies Fellowship

We noticed many Indonesian domestic helpers waiting for long periods of time at the church compound for their employers’ children to be dismissed from Sunday school Sundays after Sundays. While waiting, they would sit and chat with their fellow domestic helpers. This observation hatched the idea of gathering them in a fellowship so that they would have a more meaningful time while waiting for their employers’ children.

With the support from Mrs Ang, who is the wife of one of our elders, we shared this idea with members of our church who have an Indonesian domestic helper in order that they might encourage their domestic helper to join this fellowship. We also shared this idea with some of the worshippers in our church who are Indonesians engaged in professional work. Praise the Lord! Not only did they agree to be in the committee for this fellowship, some of them who are ladies even availed themselves to lead in the Bible study during the fellowship.

Next, we came up with the name of this fellowship and its mission statement; Hebron’s Indonesian Ladies’ Fellowship – We gather together to have warm fellowship of Christian love with one another, to sing songs of praise to the Lord and to learn more about God.

After the publicity on this fellowship, we had our first fellowship on 14 September 2008. This fellowship takes place every Sunday except the first Sunday of every month, as we encourage the ladies in this fellowship to partake in the Holy Communion in our First English Worship Service on this day.

Praise the Lord! He has seen us through all this while. This year, we saw the 3rd Anniversary of this fellowship. This fellowship currently has eight regular attendees. Six of them are believers while the other two are not. However, according to these two non-believers and their employers, the two of them read Santapan Rohani (Our Daily Bread translated in Bahasa Indonesia) and Alkitab (the Bible in Bahasa Indonesia) every day. Praise the Lord!
